Separate Swimming Info
Pottruck
gym has generously provided weekly time slots for separate men's and women's
swimming. These sessions were originally designed to accomodate religious
modesty needs but are open to anyone who prefers separate-sex swimming for any
reason.
These sessions
are open to all Pottruck gym members (includes all undergrads). If you are a
current Penn student/staff member who is *not* a member of Pottruck gym
(includes grad students), you can make use of these sessions if your name is on
a special non-member access list. To add your name to this list, email your
request to Bryan Haunert
(Associate Director of Recreation) and wait for confirmation.
Sessions
are on SUNDAY:
Men: arrive
9:55 am (swim 10-10:45)
Women:
arrive 10:55 am (swim 11-11:45)
Separate
swimming takes place every Sunday except when the Pottruck schedule does not
allow it- check the gym website for cancellations: http://www.upenn.edu/recreation/.
Cancellations will also be announced on the non-member list described
above.
Individuals
will ONLY be allowed into the pool area at the start of the swim session and
ONLY the lower level pool door (near the changing rooms) will open. Swimmers should
therefore be on time and wait by this door to be let in as a group. Pool area
windows are covered to maintain privacy during these sessions (if they are not,
simply remind the lifegaurd on duty to cover the windows). Appropriate swimwear
must be worn and all pool regulations must be followed.
Happy
swimming! :)
